Hello, everyone!
I’m starting my internship in Colombia for Smile Education Foundation (SEF), and it has already been such a new experience for me.
What a new adventure in every way! This is not only my first time to work with kids, but also my first time to teach in general, so to learn how to teach kids will be quite a rewarding challenge. Today there was no class because of teacher’s meetings, and I am so proud of the 8 students that chose to come to an impromptu meeting to kick off the next few months of my internship, when they could have easily stayed in bed on their day off. Today I introduced myself, shared with them that I am here through December to do my required internship to finish my Master of Human Relations, and we started some brainstorming about things they would like to learn. They showed me how to play their weather board game, which I will also be translating over the course of the next few months. I am so impressed with their hunger for knowledge and opportunity, and I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet to have the opportunity to learn from them over the next few months.
