Barrio Egipto 2026
Bogotá | Cundinamarca | Colombia |
This is a bold initiative to uplift 225 vulnerable children in Bogotá’s Barrio Egipto. Led by Diego Romero and the Asturia Team, in partnership with Fundación SEF and Egipto con Futuro, the project delivers 225 school supplies, scholarships, new computers, school clothing and most importantly a glimmer or hope, empowering kids to learn, grow, and dream beyond their circumstances.
Launching in January 2026, the project includes academic support for 30 students, new computers, and community workshops. Backed by a team with deep ties to Colombia and a proven record of impact, we are committed to break the cycles of poverty through education and hope.

Community Overview
Barrio Egipto is a historic neighborhood nestled in the foothills of downtown Bogotá, yet it remains one of the city’s most economically challenged areas. Despite its proximity to government buildings and tourist landmarks, the community faces persistent poverty, limited access to education, and food insecurity. Many children grow up in single-parent households, often with mothers working informal jobs, leaving little time or resources for academic support or emotional care.
The challenges here are urgent and multifaceted: underfunded schools, lack of digital tools, and high dropout rates—especially beyond third grade. Children often attend school hungry, and families struggle to provide even basic supplies. This project aims to change that narrative by investing in the children of Barrio Egipto, giving them the tools, mentorship, and encouragement they need to thrive and dream beyond their circumstances.
