This was our first four-day project, where SEF teamed up under Hands Across the Americas from Boston, and brought school supplies and a medical brigade to very remote towns of the department of Santan

Community Overview

Puerto Wilches, Barranca & Sabana de Torres are three towns along the Magdalena river known for their history of intense violence between the regional paramilitary guerillas. The main industries are oil palm extraction and fishing industry. The oil and gas industry in this has proven to be a non-sustainable source of revenue for the community, and only provides jobs for a small sector of the population these communities.
